Gobi Desert Temple

It was a long drive past a remote section of the Great Wall. When we turned right towards the mountains, we changed climatic zones and entered a canyon with carved Buddha statues, just like you might see outside Lhasa. We were surprised to drive right up to the temple complex, where a lone monk stood outside the temple door. We were now in Mongol country.
